E-mail Resume Tip
When sending a resume to
a potential employer via
e-mail, or using their online
job application submitter,
unless they request you to
send your resume as an
attachment, do not.
Because of the proliferation
of computer viruses, many
companies will simply
delete your e-mail. Instead,
copy and paste your
resume from your word
processor to Notepad
(Start>Programs>
Accessories>Notepad).
This will remove all
formatting. Now you need
to adjust the resume in
Notepad, to fit the width
constraints, and look good,
on their submitter or your
e-mail program. Then save
the Notepad file as
"Resume" or whatever.
Next, check how it looks
by copying and pasting it
from Notepad to your e-mail
composer and e-mailing it
to yourself. Adjust it, if
needed, and re-save.
Now you have a ready
made resume, which you
can copy and paste into any
application, and not worry
that it will be deleted!
