The Shelter (Seattle Youth and Community
Services) Shelters and support for runaway or
homeless youth, with emphasis on first time
runaways or other not already a part of the
street culture. Youth at The Shelter may stay
1-2 weeks and receive counseling, advocacy,
food, clothing, and other needs; parents
notified within 24 hours. Other services; 5
community volunteered shelter homes for
youth at lower risk; 2 foster homes (90 day
stay with DSHS placement); phone crisis
intervention 24 hours daily. Call first for all

Central Area Motivation Program
(CAMP)
Provides help with move-in costs to fair market
housing, extended emergency shelter, and
limited motel vouchers. Shelter consists of two
2-bedroom townhouses available for families
of 4 or more. Families may stay for up to 90
days. Clients may be assisted once a year.
Offers limited emergency cold-weather motel
vouchers during winter months (Nov - Mar).
